Kenneth K. Anderson, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, July 24, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born April 16, 1921, in Custer, S.D., son of Gust and Blanche Waters Anderson. He and Mary Jo Suskey were married May 27, 1961, in Mason City, Iowa.
Anderson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a survivor of three major engagements: Pearl Harbor, Solomon Islands and the Battle of Midway.
He was chief of the Flight Service Station with the Federal Aviation Association at Cape Regional Airport. He was an honorary member of VFW Post 3838.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Anderson of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Lynn Stanley of Topeka, Kan.; six grandchildren, Ellen Wright of Cape Girardeau, Jennifer Roberts of Oklahoma, Ken Anderson of Kansas, Ryan Anderson of Kansas, Jamie Stanley of Kansas, Mary Brungardt of Oklahoma; five great-grandchildren, Mary Beth Wright of Cape Girardeau, T.J. Roberts of Oklahoma, Kenzie Anderson of Kansas, Lauren Anderson of Kansas, Laya Lynn Stanley of Kansas; two great-great-grandchildren, Ethan O'Kelly of Cape Girardeau and Kendall O'Kelly of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gus Anderson; and a sister, Mary Rochne.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum, with military rites by Missouri Honors Team and VFW Post 3838.
