Magic finish second at world series

The SEMO Magic 18-U softball team placed second at the 18-U 40-foot World Series in Panama City Beach, Fla.

The team enjoyed a six-game winning streak at the tournament before falling to the Georgia Mustangs 4-1 in the title game. The Magic finished the tournament 10-2-1.

Lauren Reinagel and Amanda Nichols handled all the pitching for the Magic, with Reinagel winning seven games and Nichols three.

Erika Reinagel batted .611 with 19 runs scored, while Jane Morrill hit .462 with a homer and 18 RBIs to lead the Magic offensively.

The Magic finished the season 43-12-2.

Gators place first at conference meet

The Gators swimming team took first place at the Southeast Missouri Swim Conference meet.

Jackson took second, the Scott City Dolphins were third and the Perryville Piranhas 10th.

Johnson brings home medalist honors

Barb Johnson was the medalist at the weekly Ladies Day at Kimbeland Country Club.

Vicki Long won the championship flight, Carol Weinrich won the A flight, Dorothy Holland won the B flight and Mary Rose James won the C flight.

Dow captures medalist honors

Sharon Dow brought home the medalist honors at the weekly Cape Chip A Ways golf outing.

Irene Winston won the A flight, while Lois Tweedy won the B flight.

Waunita VanDyke had the low putts, while Lil Angle had the play of the day.

Myers, Temm team for title

The team of Harriette Myers and Alice Temm combined to win the championship flight of the Rebecca's Run two-lady team tournament at Dalhousie Golf Club.

The first day was a scramble and the second day was handicap and gross best ball.

Myers and Temm shot a 141, good enough for first in low gross. The team of Jennifer Coad and Casey Essary shot a 134, good enough for first in low net.

In the A flight, Cissy LeGear and Pat Plummer had the low gross (161), while Mary Jane Eftink and Linda Tewis had the low net (145).

In the B flight, Pam Blackwell and Terri Harris had the low gross (164), while Barbara Jones and Marge Sulley had the low net (154).

In the C flight, Betty DeWitt and Robin Davis had the low gross (174), while Marge Wunderlich and Linda Richardson had the low net (160).
