A photograph of two cardinals that appeared to be kissing was chosen as the public's favorite in the Foto Fest amateur photography contest.

When votes were tabulated Tuesday, Paul Wilson of Jackson came out ahead of the other 1,400 eligible photographs. He received more than 20 percent of the votes.

Foto Fest is an amateur photography contest sponsored by the Southeast Missourian and the Westfield Shoppingtown West Park. The contest ran for four weeks this summer, and four semifinalists were chosen each week. A panel of judges selected the grand prize winner and several finalists.
