JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Gov. Matt Blunt is mobilizing another 700 Missouri National Guard members to help support Louisiana's hurricane relief efforts.

The troops mobilized Monday bring to 1,300 the number of Missouri Guard members directed to Louisiana. Hurricane Gustav hit around 9:30 a.m. Monday about 72 miles southwest of New Orleans.

Blunt's office said the latest units are scheduled to leave for Louisiana today, joining more than 600 Missouri Guard troops already mobilized.

The units mobilized Monday include the 203rd Engineer Battalion and Forward Support Company, Joplin; 1141st Engineer Company, Kansas City; 294th Engineer Company, Carthage and Anderson; 220th Engineer Company, Festus; 880th Haul Team, Perryville; 311th Brigade Support Battalion, Lexington and the 548th Transportation Company, Trenton.
