Notre Dame was among the teams to go undefeated in pool play Friday at the 17th annual B.A. Sports Volleyball Tournament in Cape Girardeau.

The Bulldogs (9-1-1) rolled past New Madrid County Central 25-9, 25-15 and Marquand 25-11, 25-4.

Allison Toole had six kills against NMCC, Allison Essner served 11 points and Amber Karnes recorded 11 assists.

Against Marquand, Kelsey Scheeter served 10 points, including seven aces. Amanda Essner led in kills with three and Allison Essner had seven assists.

Advance also won both matches, defeating Seckman 25-18, 25-23 and Oak Ridge 25-11, 25-13. Kaci Cooper had six kills against Oak Ridge. Angela Broshuis had seven aces against the Blue Jays, Kacie Ritter had 10 assists and Alicia Broshuis had six digs. Alicia Broshuis had seven assists against Seckman.

St. Vincent won both of its first two pool-play matches as well.

New Salem goes 2-1

New Salem Baptist Academy of Marble Hill went 2-1 during a quad match in Hillsboro.

Mary Poole and Holly Jordan both had three kills while MacKenzie Jones added five aces during a 25-21, 25-13 win over St. Louis Christian School.

New Salem (4-2) then lost to host Christian Outreach 25-12, 25-19.

Laura Poole then had eight aces and Sarah Green five aces in a 25-8, 25-7 romp past Gateway Christian Academy.

Central was hammered in a first-round game of the Francis Howell Tournament. The Tigers (3-2) play again in the tournament at 10 a.m. today.

SOFTBALL Notre Dame 12, Kennedy 2

Beth Schnurbusch pitched a three-hitter in an opening victory for Notre Dame (10-0) at the Incarnate Word Tournament.

The Bulldogs play 8 a.m. today in the 12-team tournament.
