  • Sunday, Sept. 7: PWP will attend the SEMO District Fair, meeting at 1 p.m. on the steps of the Arena Building. Qualifying members' children or grandchildren will receive money toward the cost of attending the fair. Children under 12 are exempt from the gate admission fee.
  • Wednesdays through Oct. 29: PWP will attend line dance lessons from 7 to 9 p.m. (with beginner lessons at 6 p.m.) at Eagles Aerie no. 3775, 321 N. Spring St., Cape Girardeau. There is a cost.

n Friday, Sept. 15: PWP will have a board/orientation meeting at Riverside Regional Library, Union & Adams streets in Jackson. Free. This is a planning meeting. To suggest activities for upcoming meetings, contact a board member.

  • Saturday, Sept. 20: PWP sponsored single's dance, from 8 p.m. to midnight is at the VFW in Cape. Open to the public, singles and couples welcome. Discounted admission for members.
  • Friday, Sept. 22: PWP will learn to play dominoes at 7 p.m. at Riverside Regional Library.
  • Saturday, Sept. 27: PWP will meet at 1 p.m. at the Arena Building to attend the River Heritage Quilt Show. Quilt appraisals by appointment, entries from five states, bed turning, huge vendor mall, cash prizes, ribbons, special exhibits and displays, door prizes, handicapped access.   • Saturday, Sept. 28: PWP will meet at 1 p.m. at Cape West 14 Cine and take all member's qualifying children or grandchildren to the movies.

October

  • Friday, Oct. 3: PWP general meeting/orientation from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Riverside Regional Library. Free. Everyone welcome. Modern Woodmen of the World will present "Planning for Your Future." Come; bring a guest or prospective member and stay to play cards.
  • Saturday, Oct. 4: PWP will go to the Beggs Family Farm for the Fall Harvest Festival. Activities include a corn maze, barnyard golf, pig races, duck races, barnyard express ride, barnyard twister, wooden play fort and the rope maze, corn cannon, wagon rides, bonfires, cow milking and pumpkin picking. There is an admission fee.
  • Saturday, Oct. 11: PWP will go to the 18th Annual Black Forest Village Octoberfest, open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Activities are traditional crafts including basket weaving, blacksmithing and dulcimer playing. An assortment of fall concessions and fine arts and crafts will be available. There is an admission fee.
  • Friday, Oct. 17: PWP will have a board/orientation meeting at Riverside Regional Library from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Free. This is a planning meeting; contact a board member with suggestions for upcoming activities.
  • Saturday, Oct. 18: PWP sponsored singles' dance and silent auction from 8 p.m. to midnight at VFW in Cape Girardeau. Singles and couples welcome. Discounted price for members.
  • Friday, Oct. 22: PWP will go to lunch and a movie, meeting between 1 and 1:30 p.m. at Cracker Barrel in Cape Girardeau for lunch and then to the Cape West 14 Cine.
  • Friday, Oct. 24: PWP will have a card party beginning at 7 p.m. at Riverside Regional Library. Bring a snack and have a lot of fun.
  • Saturday, Oct. 25: PWP will meet at D-Mart at the Jackson-Fruitland exit at 7 p.m. to go to the Rocky Holler Haunted Hayride. Roasting hot dogs or marshmallows and drinking hot chocolate will take place afterward. PWP will pay a set amount for each member's qualifying children or grandchildren to attend.
