Interstate 55 in New Madrid County to reopen at 5 p.m.

SIKESTON, Mo. — Both northbound lanes of Interstate 55 are expected to reopen at approximately 5:00 p.m. following an accident that occurred this morning near mile marker 53 near the Kewanee exit.

The road was closed this afternoon from Route P to Highway 80 in New Madrid County due to the accident.

Motorists were rerouted off of I-55 at Route P near Kewanee and then rerouted back to I-55 at Route 80 near Mathews.
