JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- A statewide re-count following last month's Democratic attorney general primary expanded the victory margin of winner Chris Koster.

The secretary of state's office announced Thursday that the official results from the Aug. 5 primary show Koster adding another 49 votes to claim victory by 829 ballots. State law permits a losing candidate from requesting a re-count when the margin is less than 1 percentage point.

Margaret Donnelly, of St. Louis, lost by 0.2 percent and asked for the re-count.

Koster, of Raymore, has been campaigning with an eye toward the November election since he declared victory on election night.

The announcement of the new primary election results came just after Koster finished a debate with Republican candidate Michael Gibbons of Kirkwood.
