Kelly sweeps top spots at invite

Kelly's Tommy Bridges and Cody Kern took the top two spots in the boys race at the Kelly Invitational cross country meet Saturday.

Bridges finished in 17 minutes, 51 seconds, while Kern crossed the line in 18:19.

Delta's boys took the team title, led by Austin Seabaugh in fourth.

On the girls side, Kelly's Tara Johnson won the race in 21:24.

Scott City edged Jackson 25-14, 25-13 to win the gold division consolation match.

Brooke Simpson hammered 10 kills and added four digs, while Stephanie Essner put down five kills to lead the Rams. Katie Diebold had two aces, two digs and eight assists in the win.

MaryAnn Bradshaw and Jill Rushin each had four kills in the match for the Indians.

Notre Dame defeated Woodland 25-18, 25-21 to capture the silver division championship.

Meghan Dohogne led the Bulldogs with 28 kills and seven aces, while Shannon Brennan recorded 15 kills and 36 assists on the day for Notre Dame.

Lauren Johnson led Woodland with 28 kills and Kaitlin McCormick added 27 on the day.

Lebanon beat Eminence 25-15, 25-18 to win the gold division championship.
