JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt isn't seeking re-election this year, but he's keeping his options open for a return run in 2012.

Blunt's gubernatorial campaign committee has been restructured as a candidate committee for an unspecified statewide office in the 2012 elections.

That doesn't necessarily mean Blunt will be back on the ballot. But it allows him to continue raising and spending money for another four years.

Blunt said Thursday that his campaign committee still has about $1 million.

He plans to give some of that money to other candidates in this year's election. But Blunt says he may save some of it for future elections -- either for himself or for other candidates.
