Charles Nett

Charles "Dale" Nett, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born Nov. 15, 1914, on a farm outside Jasper, Mo., son of Charles Albert and Hattie Jane Chapman Nett. He and Wilma Nichols were married Nov. 28, 1938, at Carthage, Mo. She preceded him in death.

The couple owned and operated Missouri Propane Gas Co. in Cape Girardeau 27 years. They also were part of Chaplain Transport in Cahokia, Ill., and Nett Farms of Fredericktown, Mo. Dale was a charter member of the Airport Board and belonged to several community service clubs.

Survivors include a daughter, Pam Covington and husband Scott of Compton, Ark.; four grandchildren, Matt Stone and wife Dr. Pam Stone of Little Rock, Ark., Kate Foss and husband Chris of San Francisco, Shane Covington of Fayetteville, Ark., and Kim Burket and husband Jim of Little Rock.

His best joy was that he lived to see his great-grandchildren, Josee Stone (age 5), and Korben Stone (age 4) of Little Rock, Stone Foss of San Francisco, (age 2), Brandon Burket (age 3) and Ryan Burket (age two months), both of Little Rock. A sixth great-grandson is expected in December in San Francisco.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two brothers.

A private service will be held with immediate family only.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
