Cape Girardeau man gets 30 months in prison on firearms charge

Summary: On Oct. 4, 2007, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at an upper level apartment in the 800 block of Spanish Street in Cape Girardeau.

The warrant was for items related to distribution of methamphetamine, but upon searching the premises they found a Norinco, model SKS, 7.62X39mm caliber semiautomatic rifle, bearing serial number A5039, in the closet of the master bedroom.

Roberts later admitted to owning and possessing the firearm. Due to Roberts' prior felony convictions, he is barred from legally possession firearms.
