Listen to advice THIS IS regarding the comment about chip and seal. We were warned about potential problems before we even put it down. Perry County tried it and had bad results. Even though we had that information, the powers that be decided to go ahead and put the cheaper stuff down. Now it's costing more because the crews have to keep repairing it. County officials, take information before you make a decision. If you would have listened, we wouldn't be in this pickle...

THIS IS regarding the comment about chip and seal. We were warned about potential problems before we even put it down. Perry County tried it and had bad results. Even though we had that information, the powers that be decided to go ahead and put the cheaper stuff down. Now it's costing more because the crews have to keep repairing it. Don't keep the change

NO RESTAURANT server has the right to keep any of your money, not even change. I would be surprised if management allows this.

Time for no change

THE ARTICLE about more heart trouble after changing from daylight saving time should prove to this area that we need to keep our clocks and time like they should be. I believe God intended for us to have the right time and to stay with it. This back-and-forth thing is hard. It's like going through a time zone with an airplane. Let's try to get this changed so the time stays the same.

Poor grades

I AM sick and tired of school districts' stereotyping students regarding their grades. They say if students don't do well on testing, they're from low-income, single parents. I am a low-income, single parent of an honor roll student who is demanding statistics of students from middle- to upper-class married parents. I bet you will find a lot of poor grades there too.

Hunting deer in town

I'M CALLING about bow hunting in the city limits of Cape Girardeau. I believe this needs to be happening. The Department of Conservation could govern over it and allow a limited number of tags to get rid of the nuisance in the town.

Thanks for lunch

I WANT to thank the woman who paid for lunch for the woman in a wheelchair and her husband at Ryan's. I thanked her in person, but I didn't get her name. I hope her kindness is rewarded in some way or another. Thanks again. I don't know you, but I sure appreciate what you did.

Minister's views

A MINISTER isn't worth his salt if he doesn't enlighten his members to the truth and remind them where God and the Bible stand for on religious values and beliefs. If some politicians and platforms and political parties clash with Christian way of life and values, it would be the minister's duty to spread God's truth, not to spare the feelings of those who think other issues outweigh your faith. It's hard to believe so many Christians accept such abominations as abortion and homosexuality because of a political party or a politician's views.

Shameful performance

I'M A professor at Southeast Missouri State University. I'm calling to express my distress and outrage at what I saw at the River Campus this evening. To make fun of the name of Jesus Christ, to mock his birth and death on the cross is nothing short of blasphemy. I am offended as a Christian, and I stand up to say shame on the university for putting on such a performance.

Too graphic

I WAS wondering if the Southeast Missourian felt compelled to run the article verbatim about the Carter County sheriff's wound being self-inflicted. I could have done without the graphic description, and I'm pretty sure the man's family could too. I think it was in poor taste, and I think you should be ashamed of yourself.
