Exit Realty has awarded Thomas M. Meyer and Elizabeth McFerron the Bronze Award in recognition of 25 or more closed transaction sales from July 1, 2007, to June 30. Both agents are with Exit Realty-Thomas Meyer Associates in Cape Girardeau.

SADI names director of marketing/development

The SEMO Alliance for Disability Independence has named Regina Tucker as director of marketing and development. The former grant program director with the United Way, Tucker will be responsible for developing marketing strategies, promotions and fundraising for expansion of facility and services. SADI began in 1984 as a polio support group and was funded in 1993 as an independent living center. SADI is a not-for-profit, nonresidential center.

Arena Golf manager to attend seminar

Arena Golf manager Jack Pettet has been selected to attend a custom golf fitting seminar and executive round table meeting at the home office of Karsten Manufacturing Co. Karsten is the maker of Ping golf equipment. The seminar will be held at Ping's corporate office in Phoenix.

Local photographer honored by arts council

Tom Neumeyer of Neumeyer Photography was awarded the People's Choice Award for his photograph "Into the Mist" at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri. The award follows voting by more than 300 people attending the First Friday reception Nov. 7. The photograph of a beech tree along a path was one of four of his works selected for the annual Regions Juried Exhibition at the council, 32 North Main St. in Cape Girardeau.

Area hospital, nurse executive recognized

Southeast Missouri Hospital and Educational Services Director Gwen Thoma were recognized by the Missouri Area Health Education Centers for the hospital's 20-year involvement with the organization. Plaques of appreciation were presented at an awards program held by the Southeastern Missouri Health Education Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Thoma received a plaque recognizing 17 years of volunteer service as a member of the SEMO Area Health Education Centers board of directors. Thoma has been on the centers' board since it began operation in 1991. She is the only original board member who is still active with that group.

Hospital hires two for marketing/PR dept.

Saint Francis Medical Center has added Nicole Dirnberger and Mark Parker as referral services managers in the marketing and public relations department. Dirnberger grew up in St. Charles, Mo., but has lived in Benton, Mo., since 2007. She graduated from Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo., in 1996, with a bachelor's degree in hospitality and restaurant management and a minor in business. Dirnberger has worked in sales for the last eight years and has been in the medical/pharmaceutical industry since 2004. Parker grew up in Cape Girardeau and graduated from Notre Dame High School and Southeast Missouri State University. He received his bachelor's degree in health management, sports medicine option, in 1993. After graduation, Parker worked for eight years as a certified athletic trainer and industrial rehab coordinator for HealthSouth in Panama City, Fla., and Cape Girardeau. Eight years ago, Parker changed careers and most recently promoted allergy, asthma and cardiovascular medicine for Schering-Plough in Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois.
