CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Bobby Eugene Nelson, 69, of Charleston died Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at Charleston Manor.

He was born Sept. 2, 1939, in Mississippi County, son of Robert A. and Jewell Lillian Lindsey Nelson. He and Mary Ann Sisk were married Oct. 14, 1960.

Nelson lived in Charleston most of his life. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church. He was a truck driver for Pullen Brothers Trucking a number of years, retiring in 1996.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Beverly Bowles of Wyatt, Mo., Mary Ellyn Nelson of Jackson, Susan Britt of East Prairie, Mo.; two brothers, Spencer Nelson of St. Louis, Larry Nelson of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Annabelle Griggs of Charleston; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mike McKinney officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
