A Perryville, Mo., man was injured Monday evening in a two-car accident on U.S. 61, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. A Perryville, Mo., man was injured Monday evening in a two-car accident on U.S. 61, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred two miles north of Jackson at around 6:20 p.m. as a 1998 Plymouth driven by Stanley Brueckner, 57, of Perryville was entering the roadway and failed to yield to a 2002 Buick driven by Shirley Versemann, 59, of Frohna, Mo. The Buick then struck the Plymouth.

Both vehicles suffered extensive damage. Brueckner was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, where he was treated for moderate injuries.
