Eakins - 40 years

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Eakins of Cape Girardeau celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary July 6, 2008, when they and a son visited their daughter and son-in-law for the birth of their first grandchild.

Eakins and Donna Kay Stovall were married July 6, 1968, at Crump Assembly of God Church in Crump, by the Rev. Dewell E. Smith. Their attendants were Wilma Rhodes Huffman, JoAnn Seiler Dallas, Jerry Burnett and Earl Stovall.

Mrs. Eakins is the daughter of the late Lender and Thelma Stovall of Whitewater. Eakins is the son of the late Hobert and Legia Eakins of Jackson.

The couple has two children, Ron Eakins of Jackson and Michelle (Bryan) Copeland of Lewisville, Texas, and a granddaughter, Allison Copeland.
