"I think it's important for her to look at some of the manufacturing facilities and economic development activities in our district," Emerson said of Hanaway. Emerson said that it is important not only because of her current position as state legislator, but because she is seeking to become secretary of state.

Hanaway said that familiarizing herself with the state's economic assets will help her if she is to be elected. She said getting to know what the state has to offer will help her attract outside business and keep Missouri businesses in the state.
