Elsie M. Story, 98, of Greenville, Ala., formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, in Greenville.

She was born Oct. 10, 1910, in Advance, Mo., daughter of George M. and Laura Bradshaw McClendon. She and Clarence Paul Story were married Oct. 13, 1930. He died in June 1970.

Story worked at Brown Shoe Co., Cape LaCroix Apartments and in housekeeping at Town House Inn. She was a former member of First General Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include a son, Jon Story of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Sherry Carroll of Orange Beach, Ala., April McGaugh of Honoraville, Ala.; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, two brothers, three sisters and a granddaughter.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Vyron Yount officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
