Shiloh Baptist Church will hold gospel sing

VILLA RIDGE, Ill. -- Shiloh Baptist Church in Villa Ridge will hold a gospel singing service at 7 p.m. Nov. 6. The Gloryroad Travelers of Mounds, Ill., and the Challengers of Cambria, Ill., will perform.

Christian Women's Club to meet at Port Cape

The Cape County Christian Women's Club will meet at 11 a.m. Nov. 8 at Port Cape Girardeau restaurant. The theme for the luncheon is American heritage. For reservations, phone Bonnie Macke at 243-2866 or Pat Smart at 335-5525.

World Community Day event set in Jackson

Church Women United, an ecumenical organization, will hold its World Community Day service at 9 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson. World Community Day brings together Christian women from several denominations for a worship service that focuses on issues of peace and justice. For information, call Joyce King at 243-5230.

East Cape Baptist to hold revival services

Car clinic from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, corner of Cape Rock Drive and Kingshighway. The clinic includes information about safety and maintenance issues and is provided as a ministry outreach of the church.

Conference on faith-based crime prevention efforts, held at the Terrace Room in the Victorian Inn. The program will include a discussion on the need for transitional housing and testimonies from former prisoners helped through Project Hope, a faith-based ministry. Jeff Johnston, a therapist at Associated Counseling Services, will speak during the 10 a.m. service at Father's Arms Fellowship. He will speak about the addictions of today's world.

Friend and Family Day at 10:45 a.m. service at First General Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. Special music by the New Beginnings. The church also will have a "Trunk or Treat" event from 5 to 7 p.m.

Musical celebration service on a "Day of New Beginnings" at 10:45 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. Guests include Jerry Ford and Robyn Hosp and the Regeneration Choir. Christ Episcopal Church will hold a choral service at 4 p.m. for a celebration of All Hallows Eve. Costumes are optional.

Fruitland Community Church will hold a fall festival from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the church.

First Baptist Church in Jackson will sponsor a "Trunk or Treat" event from 5 to 7 p.m. on the church parking lot.

Family fall festival from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Osage Community Centre, sponsored by Lynwood Baptist Church. Admission is a canned food item to be donated to a local food pantry. Children can wear costumes, but no scary costumes are permitted.

Youth from Immaculate Conception Church in Jackson wil hold a "El Dia de los Muertos" party at 7 p.m. on Oct. 31. Costumes are allowed, but only those dressed as saints or religious figures will be entered in a contest.

Monday

Community prayer service at 7 p.m. at Mount Auburn Christian Church to "Pray them home." The service is open to anyone interested in praying for the military and service personnel serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Post commander Robert Bunn of the Louis K. Juden American Legion Post 63 will speak, and JT and Friends will perform a patriotic medley. For information, phone the church at 335-9264.

Tuesday

United Methodist Women at Centenary Church will meet at noon for a luncheon. The program by Martha Maxton will be on the World Thank Ofering and officers will be elected.

Wednesday

United Methodist Women from Zion Church in Gordonville will meet at 7:30 p.m. Martha Hartmann will lead a program on the world thank offering. Fern Shultz and Rose Quinn will hold the fellowship. Childcare is available by request by calling 243-2635.
