Farmington will begin defense of its SEMO Conference wrestling title today when the two-day event begins at Central High School.

Wrestling begins 6 p.m. today with the first two rounds.

The event continues 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Semifinals are expected to start around 2:30 p.m. with the finals around 5 p.m.

Jackson was the runner-up last year, falling by 16 1/2 points.

Farmington and Jackson each have a wrestler ranked No. 1 in their classifications by Missouriwresting.com. Farmington 125-pounder Bradley Wisdom is ranked atop the Class 3 list; Jackson 215-pounder Blake Peiffer is tops in Class 4.

Windsor and Ste. Genevieve also have one top-ranked wrestler each.

The 11-team field also includes area schools Dexter, Poplar Bluff, New Madrid County Central and the host team.
