The Southeast Missouri State women's gymnastics team posted its top score of the season Friday night.

That it came on the road made coach Tom Farden a happy man.

Southeast defeated host Texas Women's University 194.725 to 192.775 in Denton, Texas.

"It's a great road score, one of our better road meets we've had going all the way to last season," said Farden, whose squad improved to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the Midwest Independent Conference.

That makes two meets in a row for Southeast to break the 194-point mark. The Redhawks scored 194.700 during a home win over Illinois-Chicago last weekend.

"The last couple of meets we've really been pleased," Farden said. "But there's more to go."

Southeast grabbed the top two spots in the all-around. Junior Rikara Turner won the title with a score of 38.950. Senior Sandra Blake was second with 38.650.

Blake tied for first on vault with sophomore teammate Brianna Gaddie as both scored 9.775.

Blake also tied for first on floor (9.825), while Gaddie was second (9.800).

Turner and sophomore teammate Amanda Schoenbaum tied for first on beam at 9.800, with Gaddie second (9.725).

Blake placed second on bars (9.800).

Southeast hosts a triangular meet Friday night, against Southern Utah and Centenary.
