The winter ice storm that ravaged Scott County Tuesday night also caused a minor train derailment in Scott City, according to Scott City police.

The derailment occurred around 10:10 p.m. Tuesday when two cars slipped off the track due to the icy conditions, dispatch said.

The accident occurred at Interstate 55 and Main Street, and the train employees reported it to police themselves.

No one was injured, and no hazardous materials spilled.
