Southeast Missouri State University's women's volleyball team suffered a 30-22, 30-25, 30-18 Ohio Valley Conference loss at Eastern Kentucky Friday night.

Jill Miller led Southeast (8-16, 6-7) with 11 kills and Brittany Hastings added eight. Jamie Baumstark had 25 assists. Leaders in digs were Jessica Koeper and Lauren Scannell with eight each.

EKU (22-4, 12-1) got 17 kills from Amy Arlinghaus and 15 from Lesley Aldridge.

Southeast plays at Morehead State today.

Cross gets academic honor

Southeast women's soccer player Jen Cross, a senior defender, has been named to the 2004 CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 women's soccer team.

A four-year starter who was Academic All-District second team in 2003, Cross is a four-time OVC Academic Medal of Honor winner, a four-time Southeast Scholar Athlete and a four-time member of the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Two make all-OVC soccer

Senior Heather Reding and junior Megan Hejlak of Southeast's women's soccer team have been named second team all-OVC.

Reding, a defender, had three goals, and anchored the Southeast defense that allowed only 0.85 goals per game. She was also second team all-OVC in 2003 and was first team in 2002.

Hejlak, a midfielder, had eight points this season with three goals and two assists.
