Jeannine Elise Prost, 61, of St. Louis died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, in St. Louis. She was born Oct. 31, 1947, in St. Louis, daughter of Geraldine and Jack Gastorf. She was married to Joe Prost from 1968 to 1988. Jeannine lived in Cape Girardeau from 1977 to 2001. ...

Jeannine Elise Prost, 61, of St. Louis died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, in St. Louis.

She was born Oct. 31, 1947, in St. Louis, daughter of Geraldine and Jack Gastorf. She was married to Joe Prost from 1968 to 1988.

Jeannine lived in Cape Girardeau from 1977 to 2001. During those years she was a homemaker and was subsequently employed at St. Vincent de Paul School as the school secretary, the News Guardian newspaper, Health Services Corp., and for the past 18 years was in management with Blue Cross Blue Shield. She moved to St. Louis in 2001.

Surviving are her children, Craig Prost (Leah) of Bloomington, Ill., Chuck Prost (Michelle) of Cape Girardeau and Nina Prost of St. Louis; four grandchildren, Joseph Charles and Kate Prost of Cape Girardeau, Aiden Prost of Bloomington and Kreszenz Prost of St. Louis; a sister, D'Anne Weber (Vince) of St. Louis; two brothers, Douglas Gastorf (Gail) of Dallas and John Gastorf (Janice) of Tulsa, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Jeannine blessed all those she encountered. Her greatest joy was being able to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She was deeply committed to the RCIA program at her parish and shared her faith with all. She was a friend for the ages.

Jeannine donated her body to St. Louis University Medical School.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Church in Kirkwood, Mo. Visitation with the family will follow.
