The AARP Tax-Aide has announced dates for its free income tax assistance in Cape Girardeau, Jackson and other locations.

Free assistance is available for low- to moderate-income people, senior citizens 60 years and older and handicapped individuals. Service also may be available for the homebound.

Anita Parran, spokeswoman for the AARP office in Kansas City, Mo., said those seeking assistance should bring the following forms: 2008 federal and state tax returns, current year W-2, Social Security and SSI letters, 1099Int, 1099Div, 1099R, paid property tax for 2008 or total amount of years' rent receipt from the individual's landlord and the landlord's social security number. Handicapped individuals must have proof of disability.

Because the sites of AARP's tax service assistance change from year to year, Parran suggests individuals call 888-227-7669 or visit www.aarp.org/taxaide.
