The Missouri Department of Revenue will waive late fees for people who were unable to reach their local license office because of the ice storm that crippled Southeast Missouri. In a news release issued Wednesday, the department announced that the waiver applies to people who were unable to reach one of a list of offices to complete transactions during the period Jan. 26 to Feb. 4 or who can't reach an office by Feb. 6. People who were late making transactions before Jan. 26 are not eligible for the waiver. The offices included in the waiver are located in Alton, Caruthersville, Chaffee, Charleston, Dexter, Doniphan, Gainesville, Kennett, Malden, Mountain View, New Madrid, Poplar Bluff, Sikeston, Thayer, Van Buren, West Plains and Willow Springs. Local office managers can apply for additional waivers next week if needed. The waiver includes the $5 penalty for failing to renew license plates on time and the $25 fee for failing to obtain a motor title within 30 days of purchase.
