Jean McDowell, 83, of Jackson passed away Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born Dec. 11, 1920, at Fruitland, daughter of William and Nannie Hansel Anderson. She and J. Ed McDowell were married June 17, 1938, in Blytheville, Ark. He passed away Nov. 20, 1992...

Jean McDowell, 83, of Jackson passed away Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 11, 1920, at Fruitland, daughter of William and Nannie Hansel Anderson. She and J. Ed McDowell were married June 17, 1938, in Blytheville, Ark. He passed away Nov. 20, 1992

Jean was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson, and was currently secretary of Lydia Kies Circle. She was a member of Roberts Homemakers Club of Jackson. Jean enjoyed attending the Bible study program at church.

Loving survivors include three daughters, Judith Bryant and husband O.W., Janet Kay Nicholson, Jaci Gohn and husband Terry, all of Jackson; a sister, June McDowell of Jackson; 14 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Bock, Sept. 17, 1988; two brothers, William and Howard Anderson; three sisters, Vera Jackson, Faye Forshee and Ada B. Williams.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Pallbearers will be Bob Forshee, Gary McDowell, Richard McDowell, Larry Bock, Todd McDowell and Tim McDowell.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Emanuel United Church of Christ Memorial Fund.
