Seattle apples join Huskies-Cougars rivalry

SEATTLE -- Fans who live and breathe the rivalry between the University of Washington Huskies and Washington State University Cougars can now eat it up. Yakima Valley farmer Randy Valicoff has ripened the likenesses of the teams' mascots into his apples. The farmer uses carefully applied logo stickers to block the sun's rays. As the apple matures, the logo appears where the sticker kept the skin from ripening. The result: fruit bearing brilliant yellow Cougar and Husky logos. The fruit will be sold at premium prices -- perhaps as high as $6 per fruit.
