The Scott County Central boys basketball team raced out to a quick start against the No. 2-ranked team in Class 2.

But Portageville rallied to cut the Braves' lead to seven points at halftime.

Scott County, ranked second in Class 1, returned to form after halftime and posted the 94-75 road win Saturday.

Drew Thomas led the way with 33 points, while center Otto Porter added 24 in the win. Thomas finished with three 3-pointers.

Bobby Hatchett added 12 points in the win.

It was the second win in as many nights for the Braves. They beat Oran 94-32 on Friday.

The Hornets knocked off their second state-ranked opponent this week.

Advance beat Bernie in the third-place game at the SCC tournament Thursday and handled the Panthers at Three Rivers Community College on Saturday.

The Hornets got off to a fast start against South Iron, ranked No. 7 in Class 2. Advance went ahead 20-10 after one quarter and held on from there.

David VanGennip led the Hornets (18-5) with 23 points, while Jacob Bond added 15.

GIRLS BASKETBALL Notre Dame 69, ND St. Louis 40

The second and third quarters proved the difference for the Bulldogs.

They outscored the Rebels 42-18 over that span to pick up the road win.

Junior Jane Morrill led the Bulldogs with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Meghan Dohogne added 11 points and eight boards in the win.

Allyson Bradshaw scored 10 points and dished out five assists, while Brooke Bohnert added nine points and five assists for the Bulldogs (18-6).
