Carl D. Warren, 85, of Carlinville, Ill., formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, March 20, 2009, at Heritage Manor in Carlinville.

He was born Sept. 17, 1923, at Taskee, Mo., son of Charles and Jenni Frailey Warren. He and Dora Jean Fitzgerald were married Oct. 11, 1946, at Cottage Hills, Ill.

Warren was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He worked as a pipe fitter for Olin Corp. in East Alton, Ill., for 30 years. He was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Jackson.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Dixie Heyen of Maple Valley, Wash.; two sons, Jeff Warren of Champaign, Ill., and Mark Warren of Rochester, Ill., six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. today at Davis-Anderson Funeral Chapel in Carlinville, Ill.

The funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. today at the funeral chapel, with the Revs. Dennis Ornellas and Luther Rhodes officiating. Burial in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Carlinville.
