The postseason honors are starting to roll in for the Scott County Central boys basketball team.

After the Braves cruised to the Class 1 state title, two players and the coach were named to the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association's Class 1 all-state team.

Senior Drew Thomas, junior Bobby Hatchett and coach Ronnie Cookson made the boys first team.

Thomas averaged 30 points a game at the final four and finished with seven steals and eight rebounds. Hatchett put together a stellar title game, finishing with 29 points, 13 assists and five steals against Newtown-Harris.

Cookson led the Braves to a 29-2 record and won his state record 13th state championship.

Joining the trio from Scott County on the Class 1 boys team was Leopold senior Darren VanGennip. He averaged 29.7 points a game, shot 67 percent from the field and 65 percent on 3-pointers. He averaged three steals a game, and hit 88 percent of his free throws.

Notre Dame senior Austin Greer was honored on the Class 4 team. He averaged 19 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.1 steals a game for the Bulldogs this season.

Advance senior David VanGennip was named to the Class 2 team. He helped lead the Hornets to the Class 2 District 3 title game, where they came up just short against Bernie. VanGennip averaged 22.5 points, 12 rebounds and 2.5 assists a game.

A pair of local girls -- Kelly senior Debra Hall and Scott City junior Stephanie Essner -- were honored on the Class 3 team. Hall averaged 25 points and 12 rebounds a game for the Hawks. Essner averaged 13.7 points, 9.9 rebounds and three assists a game for the Rams.

The final local player honored was Delta senior Jodi Menz on the Class 1 team. She averaged 17.8 points and 7.3 rebounds a game for the Bobcats, who lost in the quarterfinal round.
