He was born Sept. 12, 1913, at Perryville, son of August and Rosa Moore Kiefer. He and Thurn Meininger were married on May 1, 1937, at St. Louis. She preceded him in death on Dec. 27, 1997...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Jesse H. Kiefer, 95, of Perryville died Thursday, April 16, 2009, at Independence Care Center in Perryville.

He was born Sept. 12, 1913, at Perryville, son of August and Rosa Moore Kiefer. He and Thurn Meininger were married on May 1, 1937, at St. Louis. She preceded him in death on Dec. 27, 1997.

Kiefer worked at Saberliner Corp. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the Sportsman's Club.

Survivors include four daughters, Geraldine Sutterer, Marlene Schremp and Sheridan Prevallet, all of Perryville, and LaDonna Klingner of South St. Paul, Minn; two sons, Richard and Robert Kiefer, both of Perryville; three sisters, Virginia Sprague-Colstrip of Montana, Dorothy Seitz of Green River, Wyo., Alice Stanhope of Billings, Mont.; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and 17 brothers and sisters.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and again from 6:30 to 9:50 a.m. Monday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. A parish wake will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville. The Rev. Milton Ryan will officiate, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital or a charity of choice.

Miller Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
