* Baseball brought Felipe and Moises Alou together more than a decade ago in Montreal, and now father and son are reunited again.

The San Francisco Giants finalized a two-year contract with former Chicago Cub Moises Alou on Monday, meaning he'll again play for his father, manager Felipe Alou.

The deal is worth $13.25 million and includes a player option for the 2006 season. Alou hit a career-high 39 homers for the Chicago Cubs last season and drove in 106 runs. He is likely to bat fifth behind Bonds.

* Free agent Eric Milton and Cincinnati agreed to a $25.5 million, three-year deal Monday as the Reds kept revamping their pitching staff.

Milton, 29, led Philadelphia in wins, starts and strikeouts last season, going 14-6 with a 4.75 ERA in 34 starts with 171 strikeouts.

Basketball

The New Orleans Hornets, off to a 2-24 start, traded shooting guard David Wesley to the Houston Rockets for Jim Jackson and Bostjan Nachbar on Monday.

Wesley played for the Hornets since the 1997-98 season, compiling averages of 14.7 points and 4.6 assists. He is the franchise's career leader in games started and ranks in the top three in 12 other categories.

Wesley averaged 13.9 points and 4.2 assists in 26 games with the Hornets this season.

Friends of affable Vanderbilt football star Kwane Doster remembered him Monday as a quiet young man, unlikely to be a victim of violent death.

Vanderbilt running back Kwane Doster was fatally shot early Sunday as he and two friends sat in a car in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant in Ybor City, Tampa's historic nightclub area. His companions were not injured.

No motive for the shooting has been established, Tampa Police Lt. William Ferguson said. Police said they do not know if Doster was the intended target.

Doster, 21, was the first Vanderbilt player ever recognized as the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year in 2002 after setting a team record with 798 yards rushing.

Football

The Washington Redskins will be without running back Clinton Portis, linebacker LaVar Arrington and cornerback Ade Jimoh for the season finale against the Minnesota Vikings.

Also, cornerback Fred Smoot is unlikely to play after spending Sunday night in a Dallas hospital with a mild kidney bruise.

Portis tore the right pectoral muscle in his upper chest in Sunday's 14-10 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Arrington played only a few plays Sunday in his second game back from knee surgery. Jimoh severely sprained his right ankle against the Cowboys.
