The Southeast Missouri State track and field program produced several impressive performances over the weekend at the rugged Mount Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif.

Juli Koenegstein broke her own school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase by finishing third in a time of 10 minutes, 34.98 seconds. She set the previous mark of 10:44.30 in 2007.

Koenegstein met the NCAA regional qualifying standard with the Ohio Valley Conference's best time this season.

Brandon Colbert was fourth in the discus with a throw of 172 feet, 10 inches. He had qualified for the NCAA regional the previous week.

Ashley Brewer was sixth in the women's discus (157-2). The distance was a career-best performance and also met the NCAA regional qualifying standard.

Southeast's other top-10 finishes were a seventh place by Josh Uchtman in the shot put (51-10 1/2) and an eighth place by Central High School graduate Tyler Terry in the long jump (22-10 1/2).

Another local product, Jackson's Rachel Kahle, turned in career-best performances in the 100-meter dash (12.08) and long jump (17-9 3/4), placing 13th and 16th, respectively.

Samantha Espiricueta qualified for the regional in the javelin (143-0) as she placed 14th.

Baseball wiped out

Because of heavy overnight rain, Sunday's scheduled baseball game between Southeast and visiting Southern Illinois-Edwardsville was cancelled.

The contest likely won't be rescheduled.

Southeast won the first three games of the nonleague series against the future Ohio Valley Conference member.

The Redhawks (22-14) return to action Tuesday with a 3 p.m. home game against Evansville. Southeast will host Arkansas State at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday as Bluff City Distributing will provide free food and beverages.
