Xi Nu Phi; Church Women United; Lamplighters FCE; Zonta Club

Xi Nu Phi

The Xi Nu Phi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Dec. 21 at the home of Renee Hesselrode for their Christmas party where secret pals exchanged gifts.

Members also met Friday at the home of Debbie Balsano for a New Year's Eve party and birthday party for Sharon Hinkebein and Hesselrode.

Members will meet Saturday at the home of Sheryl Smith for Bunco.

Church Women United

The area Church Women United met Dec. 3 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau. Michelle Moon was hostess. It was the celebration of Jesus' birthday. Gifts were brought for the mothers who are helped by the Safe House for Women.

A short business meeting was held and a discussion regarding changes being made in the constitution was held. The changes will be voted on at the next meeting.

Lawana Wulfers, Rosemary Whittard and Roberta Conner Penermon, all who died recently, were remembered.

Joyce King gave a devotion about women who have been storytellers through the years, telling each generation stories that come down through the ages. Moon gave a Christmas devotion, "The Christmas Visit." She reminded the group of the people in our own area who are in need and how important our assistance is to many people.

The next meeting will be a Bible study and board meeting at 9 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church, 2411 Abbey Road, Cape Girardeau.

Lamplighters FCE

The Lamplighters FCE Club met Dec. 17 at the home of JoAnn Hahs. New officers for 2005 were installed in a ceremony given by out-going president Linda Sebaugh.

A report was given by the committee that purchased and delivered food to a family in the Oak Ridge area.

An account of a bus trip to our Lady of the Snows was given by those who attended. The trip was sponsored by the FCE District Council. Gifts were exchanged by secret pals. Brenda Joggerst and Linda Freeman were voted in as new members.

The next meeting will be Jan. 20 at the home of Teresa Hinkebein.

Zonta Club

The Zonta Club of Cape Girardeau held its monthly business meeting on Dec. 3 at Bella Italia Restaurant in Cape Girardeau.

Plans for the upcoming trivia night for 7 p.m. on Jan. 29 at Grace United Methodist Church were discussed as well as other recent service projects.

Teresa Wildman, Erin McHugh, Kara Clark, Kim Schlitt and Nancy Grant were initiated as new members.

The club held its annual Christmas auction for internal fund raising.
