POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Marvin J Ancell, 86, of Poplar Bluff died Monday, May 18, 2009, at his home. He was born May 5, 1923, in Chaffee, Mo. He and Pat Parkest were married March 23, 1979, in Blytheville, Ark. Ancell worked 38 years with Frisco Railroad and Burlington-Northern Railroad. POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Marvin J Ancell, 86, of Poplar Bluff died Monday, May 18, 2009, at his home.

He was born May 5, 1923, in Chaffee, Mo. He and Pat Parkest were married March 23, 1979, in Blytheville, Ark.

Ancell worked 38 years with Frisco Railroad and Burlington-Northern Railroad. He was a well-known fisherman at Kentucky Lake 30 years, bringing home 200 to 400 crappie each spring season. He was a former member of Elks Lodge at Chaffee.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, William David Ancell of Section, Ala., Kevin Ancell of Memphis, Tenn., Keith Ancell of Chaffee; four daughters, Terri Eldridge of Cape Girardeau, Christy Lamb of Blytheville, Kenya Smith of Poplar Bluff, Karla Ward of Fisk, Mo.; and four grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Ash Hill Cemetery East with military honors to be provided.

The family will receive friends at the home of daughter Karla Ward, 417 Sixth St. in Fisk, following the service.

White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk is in charge of arrangements.
