During the testing, city water customers may notice a slight discoloration in their water. The discoloration is normal during hydrant testing, and the fire department advises water users to run a stream of water for approximately one minute if water is discolored. Water users also may notice a slight decrease in pressure for a few minutes while testing takes place.

The hydrant testing is a routine annual procedure to make sure hydrants operate properly.
