SIKESTON, Mo. -- A Sikeston man was transported to Saint Francis Medical Center on Tuesday morning after a car jack collapsed and left him trapped under a car, according to a news release issued by the Sikeston Department of Public Safety. The department responded to the call around 9 a.m. Police said the 39-year-old man was attempting to change a flat tire on his vehicle. The man sat down to remove the tire and the jack gave way. The car dropped onto the man's left thigh. Fire division personnel, according to the release, lifted the vehicle off the subject using high-pressure extrication air bags. Sgt. Jim McMillen said the man's injuries were not immediately considered life-threatening. He was conscious when the emergency crew arrived and remained so throughout the rescue, McMillen said.
