Lucille Hester Ruark, 76, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, June 7, 2009, at Southeast Missouri Hospital from complications related to a stroke suffered in April of this year.
The service will be at 10 a.m. today at Hughart and Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville, Ky., with Robert Webb and Garland Hester officiating. Burial to follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens.
A native of Hopkinsville, she was born June 3, 1933, daughter of the late Jasper Miles and Nannie Mills Hester Sr.
She worked as a paint sprayer for Thomas Industries 33 years. She was a member of Southside Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, William R. "Rocky" Ruark and Mark James Ruark and wife Rhonda, all of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Garland Hester of Hopkinsville; a sister, Violet Berkley of Hopkinsville; and three grandchildren, Mark James "Jay" Ruark II of Louisville, Ky., Nicholas William Ruark and Nathan Miles Ruark of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, James and Jasper Hester of Hopkinsville, and a sister, Pearl Cook of Beech Creek, Ky.
Ms. Ruark enjoyed 30 successful years with her own business as a Home Interiors consultant. She moved from Hopkinsville to Cape Girardeau in 1999 to be near her youngest son Mark and his family. Her eldest son Rocky moved to the area in 2006.
For the last 10 years Ms. Ruark devoted most of her time as cherished "Grandmother Ru" to her three beloved grandsons.
