The improvements on Independence Street in Cape Girardeau have moved to the next stage. The section of road from Kingshighway to Clark Avenue is open, and construction will now shut down traffic between Clark Avenue and Cordelia Street until June 22. Cordelia Street and Caruthers Avenue will be closed Monday to July 6. In addition, the eastbound left-turn lane and through lanes at the intersection of Independence Street and Kingshighway will be partially closed tonight, according to a news release issued by the city. Project dates are subject to weather conditions.
