She says the raid started earlier Friday when Webster County investigators learned that two people running a puppy mill near Seymour had been evicted and had moved to Mansfield, a town of about 1,300 people 220 miles southwest of Cape Girardeau.

About half of the animals were taken to a shelter in Carthage and the others were taken to St. Louis.

Authorities haven't released information on any criminal charges.
