The Jackson Senior Legion baseball team dropped its tournament opener 6-3 to Boise, Idaho, on Thursday in the 48-team Battle of Omaha in Omaha, Neb.

Ethan Sachs pitched the final two innings for Jackson (9-4) and took the loss. Chris Kirpatrick threw the first five innings.

Each team had six hits in the game.

Jackson continues round-robin play today with games against Omaha North and Moline, Ill.

The Plaza Tire Cape Junior Legion baseball team dropped a 6-5 decision to the SEMO Cherokees in its pool-play opener in the DSP Midwest Regional.

Brandon Peters and Andrew Hileman each had a double among their two hits for Cape (10-4).

Stephen Carman took the loss on the mound.

Cape continues pool play today in the 15-team tournament.
