More than 500 people lost power early Sunday evening in Cape Girardeau County due to a wire burnout near Sedgewickville, Mo., said Black River Electric Cooperative supervisor Keith Myers.

The area affected included Sedgewickville, Daisy, northern Millersville and parts of Oak Ridge, Meyers said.

As of 7 p.m., 512 customers were without power, he said.

The outage should only take a few hours to repair, but took some time to locate because it was in a rural, wooded area, Myers said.

He said he did not expect customers to be without power more than a few hours.
