The victim was taken to the emergency room at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center, where she later died.

Yates said according to the father, the victim was swimming in a small pool and he took his other child inside and returned within a couple of minutes to discover the victim lying on a raft, face down in the water. The father said he grabbed the child and noticed that it appeared as if she were having a seizure.

The victim's father then called 911 and began CPR until authorities arrived, according to the detective, who added that the father indicated the child had a medical history of having epileptic seizures.
