CANALOU, Mo. -- The Rev. Jerry Lloyd Hicks, 66, of Canalou died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.

He was born March 31, 1938, in Elkland, Mo., son of Jesse Leroy and Laura Lipe Hicks. He and Frankie Mae Jones were married Feb. 27, 1960, in Sikeston.

Hicks had been a Diesel mechanic with Bootheel Transportation Co. and also with Southland Trucking Corp., and Malone and Hyde. He was an ordained minister. He was a member and senior deacon at First Baptist Church in Canalou.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Danny and Scotty Hicks of Sikeston, Sammy Hicks of Morenci, Ariz.; four daughters, Anita Beasley of Mascoutah, Ill., Janie Drews of Matthews, Mo., Donna Fabey of Sikeston, Lori Dickerson of Farmington, Mo.; two sisters, Ethel Kaden and Norma Hays of Springfield, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, six brothers and four sisters.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dewayne Coleman officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full military honors conducted by Missouri Military Honor Guard.
