Scott City man killed in Friday crash

A Scott City man was fatally injured in a single-vehicle accident Friday. The accident occurred about 3:25 p.m. on Route N, seven-tenths of a mile south of Scott City, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, when the southbound vehicle driven by Timothy J. Simmons, 45, ran off the right side of the roadway, then the left side of the roadway, struck a dirt embankment and overturned.

Simmons was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau where he was pronounced dead at 4:24 p.m.
