SIKESTON, Mo. -- Lloyd Gilmore's time as a fugitive turned out to be much shorter than that of his wife and accused killer Tambra Turner.

Gilmore was arrested Sunday morning at his Sikeston residence after police received a tip that he'd returned there, according to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety.

Police have been searching for Gilmore since July 8. In addition to three outstanding warrants for his arrest, Gilmore is an eyewitness to a 2008 Cape Girardeau shooting for which Turner currently faces charges of first-degree murder.

Turner was charged with the murder of Chabreshea Egson in February 2008, but alluded capture for nearly 16 months before her arrest last month in Chicago.

After police learned of Gilmore's whereabouts, they surrounded the residence and an officer went to the door. No one answered, but he reported hearing voices inside, according to Sikeston police.

A short while later, Gilmore came out and was arrested.

He was taken to the Scott County Jail, where he is held on $50,000 in cash-only bonds for burglary, sexual assault and tampering with a victim, in addition to $100,000 in cash-only bonds for two counts of domestic assault in Mississippi County and a no bond warrant for a traffic offense in Pemiscot County.

Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney Morley Swingle said Gilmore is an important witness in the state's case against Turner, accused of shooting Egson because of jealousy over Gilmore.

At the time of the killing, Gilmore, recently released from jail, had been staying with Egson at 1523 N. Spanish St. when Turner allegedly broke into the house early Feb. 22, 2008. Gilmore, Egson and one of Egson's relatives were the only ones at home at the time of the shooting, according to testimony presented at a recent hearing in the case.

Swingle said Gilmore originally told investigators he struggled with Turner before the gun went off.
