Tucker Thrower, a recent Jackson High School graduate, qualified for the Amateur National Motocross Championships in Hurricane Mills, Tenn.

Hunter Smith of Cape Girardeau also qualified to compete at the event, which runs Saturday to Aug. 8.

SEMO South wins state title

The SEMO South Junior Babe Ruth baseball team defeated Mid-Counties of St. Louis 6-5 in the state championship game.

SEMO South beat Mineral Area 7-2 to open the tournament before knocking off Missouri Valley 17-5 and Boonville 9-4.

SEMO South advanced to the Midwest regional tournament in West Fargo, N.D.

Six Jackson USA wrestlers earn medals

Six wrestlers from the Jackson USA wrestling club earned medals and all-state honors at the Missouri USA Wrestling Championships in Columbia.

Cole Welker was crowned state champion in the 8 and younger, 70 pounds division.

Trever Foltz finished second at 14 and younger, 175 pounds.

Gus Guilliams (10 and younger, 70 pounds) and Bryce Dickerson (10 and younger, 120 pounds) both finished third.

Jacob Dudley (8 and younger, 75 pounds) and Jarrett Reisenbichler (12 and younger, 70 pounds) brought home sixth-place finishes.
