SCOTT COUNTY, Mo. - A Benton woman was ejected from her vehicle Tuesday afternoon, leaving her with moderate injuries.

The accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on County Road 401 three miles east of Benton, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Melissa G. Croney, 35, was traveling northbound on the roadway when her 1993 Dodge Dakota PK ran off the west side of the roadway. Croney then over corrected, causing the doors to open from the vehicle, ejecting her from the Dakota.

Croney was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. The highway patrol said she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
